Firearms Licensing Information

Application forms for new license requests and license renewals may be picked at the police station on Palmer Rd or downloaded from our forms page at any time.

A $100.00 non-refundable fee must be submitted along with the application. Checks should be made payable to the Town of Plympton.

Fingerprints and photographs will be taken by appointment prior to issue of your permit. Officer Dana Smith, who is responsible for this program, will contact you to set up a convenient time to meet at the police station to accomplish these requirements.

First time applicants are required to submit a copy of a certificate of completion from a state-approved basic firearms safety course along with their application.

The new application process is expected to take 30 to 45 days. Applicants are advised to submit an application for renewal at least 30 days prior to the expiration date on their license. There is a 90-day grace period for expired licenses.
